(More customer reviews)Be aware, sales personnel will advise you only after you make the purchase that the mesh cover is merely intended as a safety restraint. It is not intended to protect the pool from dirt, algae, and other contaminants as ordinary covers do.
My wife purchased a mesh safety cover at the end of the 2009 season on the advice of the sales people. She had it installed according to the directions. She argued the line that sales personnel gave her.
When we opened the pool last week, it was not only filled with algae and yellow pine pollen, but also the bottom of the pool was lined with approximately one-half inch of muck. It's still there.
It's been two days now. I haven't made any headway to clearing the water enough to see the slimy muck that I have to scrape and shovel out.
What the sales people will not tell you is that during the seven months of seasonal closure with all its precipitation, the mesh keeps out only the largest of particles, leaves, sticks, etc. However, the smaller particles contained in raindrops, the air, and snow, sink right through the mesh and into the pool. It was like there had been no cover at all.
What the sales geniuses now tell us to do is to get another cover that goes under the mesh cover and that rests on the water. This will catch all the dirt.
However, common sense tells you that the rain will pile up on this second cover. Rain and snow will eventually sink it or wash the slimy muck down into the pool, thereby resulting in the slimy muck situation.
If there is an area in the United States where the mesh cover ever would be appropriate, I can't think of it. If you get a safety cover, get a non-mesh version. Do not put yourself in the position from which I now speak to you.
